FLOYD QUILT GUILD
ABOUT US
Floyd Quilt Guild, Inc.
……………………..is………………………
A diverse patchwork of unique and talented members from novice to expert in their particular discipline.
Seeking new and exciting information and programs for our group is always of great importance to us.

Our members come from a vast geographic region including Roanoke, Blacksburg, Meadows of Dan, Winston-Salem, NC, Fancy Gap, and of course, Floyd and its neighboring areas. Our members have included nationally known teachers who are willing to share their ideas and techniques with us. We have many members who excel in piecing, appliqué, hand quilting or machine quilting (either on home machines or long arm). Landscape and art quilts are a favorite of several of our group. Embellishing also interests many of our members and we have needle felters, thread painters, and experts in fabric paints and dyes. Traditional and contemporary quilters work side by side.

As you can see, we have a wealth of knowledge to draw from, but we also enjoy simple quilting pleasures and always delight in seeing any and all projects that our members are doing, no matter how simple or complex.
Meeting Times
The Guild meets most first and third Mondays at Floyd Center for the Arts.

Our meetings include fun days like our annual picnic, Quilt Bingo, or our Christmas luncheon. On other meeting days, we have programs to help us learn a new technique that the membership has expressed an interest in. One year we had a wonderful program on the Modern Quilt Movement which prepared us to work on a guild challenge embracing the Modern Quilt principles. We all learned so much!
Often we have a member who will lead us in an all day project. As we recover from the pandemic, we have pretty much kept our programs and workshops in house, using the expertise and enthusiasm of our membership.
Individuals can also choose to participate in challenges, raffle quilt projects, or work on charity quilts at home as their time allows.

We have sponsored biennial judged quilt shows for the area. Due to the pandemic, our 2020 show had to be cancelled.

Please visit and join us for some fun, companionship and a new learning experience. We will be happy to answer any questions. Our members are friendly and helpful, willing to demonstrate, share a technique, or just enjoy learning something new.
